Researching the family of Michael SOLON and Mary (Mayme) LYDON. Children included Margaret, John, Patrick L., and Thomas. After arrival to the U.S. in the early 1850's, the families lived in Grant and Iowa counties in Wisconsin. Patrick and Thomas' family later lived to Lyon and Sioux counties in Iowa.
There is also another Solon/Solan connection in this family. A daughter of Patrick L. Solon married John McEnroe. John was a son of Catherine Solon (born in Ireland about June 1850), and a grandson of Patrick and Mary Solon. This Patrick Solon was born in Ireland about 1815, lived in the vicinity of Elgin, Illinois, and later moved to Kossuth Co., Iowa.

[email protected] My mother's maiden name was Solan. My G Grandfather was John Solan b1845 in Toxteth Park a suburb of Liverpool UK, his father was Bryan Solan about whom I know nothing, but I believe he was born in Ireland, he married Mary Garvey who was born in Ireland about 1811 to 1815, this was obtained from the census 1871 to 1891. My problem is I don't know what County they came from or where they married. I've searched the marriage indexes from 1845 to 1837 and found nothing so I assume they married in Ireland, but where?
Diana Anderson [email protected] Researching the Solon line from my great grandmother, Elizabeth Alice Solon (1870-1964), daughter of Martin Merril Solon, Sr. (1805-1892) and Anna Corcoran (1820-1890).
