Motivate (Five Minute Friday)

This time of year seems to motivate everyone to think about their goals for the new year and what they would like to accomplish. I too struggled with what goals to choose and what word I would pick to motivate me throughout the year as the word FEARLESS did in 2017. I chose the word CONFIDENCE to be my 2018 word of the year. It was very hard to choose this year. You see, last year was the first time I had done this word of the year thing and though I went into it half-hearted last year I tried my best to think about being fearless whenever I found myself with a tough decision to make. I think I allowed the word FEARLESS to guide me very well last year and it only seemed fitting to follow my year of being FEARLESS up with a year of CONFIDENCE.

You may ask yourself why I need confidence, after all, I am writing and putting my work out here on the blog for the whole world to see. Continue reading

Need (Five Minute Friday)

What do I NEED? I need to get over this week-old cold and get back to some semblance of healthy again.

I need to be writing. It is November, after all. In November, more so than any other time of the year, I write. Not only do I write, but I write a lot. More than 50,000 words on a novel to be exact. That should be easy to figure out if you’ve been here before, but in case you still have no idea at all what I am blathering on about, it is NaNoWriMo!
NaNoWriMo officially started three days ago, but instead of writing I was working very long days and suffering from this darned cold. In case you can’t tell by the fact that I am writing this post on Friday for FiveMinuteFriday.com, which means I am writing it now, I am feeling marginally more human than any other day so far this week, so I am warming up my writing brain and getting ready to start my novel. In order to catch up to where I should be today, I only need to write 5,001 words before midnight. Not an impossible task to be sure, but an improbable one at least for today, because while I am feeling somewhat better, I am not quite up to that task yet.

It’s Finally Here!

The day we have all been waiting for is here! Today. My friend Abby released her newest version of her Building A Framework Blogging course today. I have been using her course to learn to set up this blog and use Word Press and I believe in it so much I became an affiliate.

If you have ever wanted to start your own blog but didn’t know where to start, this is the place. Here is the affiliate link to get the course. If you click it the price will be the same for you, but I may earn a small commission from the purchase you make.

I know this blog isn’t perfect, but I am working my way through the course and wouldn’t be this far if not for her great tips and advice.  I still have so much to learn but I am tackling things one chapter at a time and it has only been a little while since I took my leap of faith, bought my own domain and started in on the course, so I think I have done pretty well in one short month. Now that things are kind of set up, I am focusing on things like building my email list and writing posts. It has been so much fun learning something new and seeing where it goes. Check in on Thursday nights to see what I have written for that week’s post. I occasionally get inspired to post at other times but late on Thursday nights is when you can expect to see a new post here. If you have something you’d like to see a post on, don’t hesitate to let me know!

Have you ever thought about starting a blog?

If I had to guess, I would bet that most people have thought about starting a blog at some point in their life. Maybe they have a passion that they want to share, or maybe they want to use their knowledge, experience, and expertise to help others. Maybe they’re looking for a creative outlet, or maybe they’ve heard that this whole blogging thing can actually become a business that has the ability to bring in extra income.

Whatever the reason, blogging seems to be one of those things that is intriguing to people, and I can totally understand why! I felt the same things when I decided to start my blog! Since I’ve now realized just how amazing blogging is, I only wish I had jumped on all of those “what ifs” and started my blog sooner!

If you’ve always wanted to start a blog, you need to meet my friend Abby from Just a Girl and Her Blog. She and her husband Donnie are full time bloggers, and they love to help others get started with blogging as well. This week, they will be holding a free training for new and soon-to-be bloggers on one of the most important parts of starting a blog: deciding what to write about (also known as your blogging “niche”).

What I Wish I had Known from Day One

When I decided to start a blog, I thought of it as an easy way to have an online diary where I could write anything I wanted and never worry about anyone else reading it. I never planned to tell anyone it was there. When I recently decided to start taking my blog more seriously, all that changed. I decided to buy a domain name and use WordPress for my blog.

I had a lot to learn. Of course, there was the technical side of things and getting everything set up, but one of my biggest worries was getting people to actually read my posts! What if I spent time and effort to get my site up and running and then no one actually visited my blog?!

Recently I was thrilled to find the tool that I wish I had from day one. Abby at Just a Girl and Her Blog has put together a FREE guide called 5 Types of Content that Will Boost Your Blog Traffic where she shares the kinds of posts that took her from zero page views to hundreds of thousands of visitors a month! Her insight and examples are so helpful and can help get any blogger or blogger-to-be started on the right track.

Snag your free guide here!

If getting your blog off the ground is on your to-do list, there has never been a better time! Grab Abby’s guide and start creating content that your readers will love! I am working on some ideas based on the free guide myself. I can’t wait to see what you do with your site! Happy Blogging!
