Influence (Five Minute Friday)

Sharing is caring!

What you say and do can have a significant influence on those around you. You get to decide what sort of influence you want to be on others. If you are open and welcoming when new people come to a gathering you attend regularly, they just might come back. I never thought I had much influence on others until one kind soul told me that I was the reason she came back to a gather a second time, and then became a regular. Wow! I had no idea! The fact that they shared this with me made want to try it again and again. If I’m not careful about what I say to others, and I have been told I can be blunt, I could be a bad influence and cause people I really enjoy having around to stop coming to gatherings just to avoid me and my big mouth. (Open mouth, insert foot.)

So, if I have ever offended you in any way, please forgive an old lady her big blunt mouth that seems less and less capable the older I get of editing and keeping quiet when it should. My hope is that we can all just get along and be kind to others. I hope that I can learn to speak to others as I would like them to speak to me. I want to be a good influence. Has there ever been a time when you were positively influenced by someone? Were you a good influence on someone else? Please share these stories in the comments below, I’d love to learn from all of you.

Enjoy this catchy tune on the subject:

This post is part of the weekly Five Minute Friday link-up!
The prompt this week is:  Influence
The assignment: Write for five minutes on the word of the week. This is meant to be a free write, which means: no editing, no over-thinking, no worrying about perfect grammar or punctuation. Just write.

Sharing is caring!
