The Cozy Chipmunk Cabin
By the time you read this, we will be on our way back from another relaxing week away from everyday life. They say a picture’s worth a thousand words. The one below was taken on the way to our cabin on Friday night. It took us a little longer than expected to get out of the house and on the road, then we had to run a couple of errands on the way. So, it was after dark before we arrived at our home for the week. This is what we saw at the end of the road leading to our cabin, so we didn’t really know what to expect. We pull up to the cabin after passing many others very similar in appearance. These cabins are up a nice steep incline of a hill. Luckily our parking area is on the side of the porch where you can climb the steps, many were not so conveniently situated.
So, come on in and let me give you the grand tour.
You see the door there on the left, so you know that as you enter, the living room area is on the left. Complete with television, gas fireplace, area rug and comfy chairs and sofa. The doorway on the right side of the photo leads into the master bedroom. The white in the lower right side and corner of the photo above is the refrigerator just to give you an idea of the size of everything.
The steps lead up to the loft with a nice sized closet, bedroom and second bathroom. Notice the cute nook under the stairs with the comfy chair. This is a nice place to sit and read, but only if you have an eReader because they didn’t think to put a reading light under there. What a shame.
This is the master bedroom, on the main floor. It has a door that closes, at least it closes when you don’t need to put the nightstand in front of it. It could be a tad roomier, but it works. This photo was taken from in front of the door to the hot tub deck.
This is the main floor bathroom, though honestly, they are identical.
This is the top of the stairs and the loft bedroom.
As you can see, there is a television in this bedroom too, up there on the chest of drawers. The door to the bathroom is there on the right of the tv.
Loft shower, see I told you they looked the same. The cabin sleeps up to six people but each bathroom has one lonely towel bar. No others to be found anywhere in the cabin.
Obviously, this is another shot of the loft bathroom.
Looking down from the loft, you can see the front (and only) door. Dining on the left, tv and fireplace in the living area on the right.
Here you can see part of the kitchen area from the loft.
Here is an overhead shot of the living area. Note: Sofa tester not included.
The master bedroom has an outdoor, enclosed hot tub through a door in the room.
The next day after settling in we did a bit of exploring. WonderWorks is next door to the Hatfield McCoy Dinner Feud. As you can see below it looks much different without all the lights.
While there are things about the cabin that we might change if it were ours, it is a great cabin. The addition of free wi-fi and 3 televisions would make it work long term if need be. We are seriously considering coming back again next year. We like it that much.
Looks great, Karen! I love that area of the country!
