Overcome (Five Minute Friday)
The word this week is overcome. It is tough some weeks to know what to write. This week I decided to get some back up from The Bible.
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the world.
John 16:33 | NIV
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans 12:21 | NIV
I never thought of myself as having overcome anything in life. Then I began to think about the very real fear I used to have about flying. I realized last week I am calm when flying. I know everything will be alright. The fear is gone, I have overcome it. I’m not crazy about the stress of dealing with crowded airports and strict timetables, but I am not afraid. This year I chose the word Fearless as my word of the year. It was amazing to realize that I have been able to apply that word to one more thing this year, flying. There are other fears I have overcome this year, but that is a post for another day.
Tell us in the comments below something that you have overcome.
This post is part of the weekly Five Minute Friday link-up!
The prompt this week is: Overcome
The assignment: Write for five minutes on the word of the week. This is meant to be a free write, which means: no editing, no over-thinking, no worrying about perfect grammar or punctuation. Just write.

Well, OK, funny thing about flying.
I learned to fly before I could drive, and then when I was eighteen had an accident. Flew a small aeroplane through a set of 250,000 volt main transmission lines. Didn’t crash, but I was a bit damaged by the windscreen imploding. My throat was cut.
It took a long time for me to learn to be OK with flying again. But I had to go back; letting it beat me was unthinkable. Well, for a teenager, anyway!

Ok, just to make it clear, I let the professionals fly the planes, I just go along for the ride.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you are having a good week. You are in my prayers.
I am praying to overcome my fear of small spaces as I have an MRI tomorrow! Yikes! Glad you’ve overcome your fear of flying.
Perhaps if you think of it add being bear-hugged by Jesus, it won’t bother you so much?
