Review: Rage Card Game

Sharing is caring!

Earlier this year we got together with three couples and one single gal while one of the couples was in town for what I like to think of as cousin date night. We are all over fifty, so get those dirty thoughts out of your mind. After eating dinner together in a restaurant, one couple called it a night and the other five of us got together in the common room at a nearby state park inn, where the out-of-towners were staying. Yes, we got the grand tour first and it was a very nice place.

Anyway, back to the common room where we were all seated around a table ready to play games with the fireplace going in the background. The out-of-town cousins travel with games and introduced us to one of their favorites, a game from the 1980s by the makers of UNO, called RAGE. It took a while to get the hang of the game, but they were very patient teachers and we all caught on quick enough. Remember, none of us is twenty anymore!

We were so taken by the game, that we looked it up on Amazon on our phones and were excited to find out it was still available. We didn’t order it, thinking we would buy it if we found it locally instead. Imagine my surprise while sorting through our game cabinets in the basement when I found we actually already owned a copy of the game in really good condition. By that I mean the box had some obvious wear, but the cards look and feel brand new.

After a family reunion, we got a bunch of cousins and an aunt together to play Rage again and it was a very different game when there are nine players compared to the five-player version back when we first played. Fast forward a week later and we found ourselves playing with just three players and again it was like a completely different game. The number of players REALLY makes a difference, but this game is always fun to play.

The box says it is for two to ten players age eleven to adult. The box also touts the game as “The Outrageous Card Game of REVENGE!” Revenge sounds like such a harsh word, but I suppose it really does fit in this case. There need not be any fear of hurt feelings and such while playing the game because you can be winning one minute and seriously losing the next. It is hard to explain. Just take my word for it and grab a copy when you get the chance. This is a seriously fun game sure to be a hit with everyone.

If you decide to pick up a copy, please consider using the affiliate link below. It won’t cost you any extra, and I may actually make a few pennies in the process. The game has been redesigned over the years but the look is all that has changed. It is currently selling for about $6 on Amazon, so it is a great gift idea.

Interestingly enough, I found this review of the item on Amazon very helpful.

It’s great to see that people still like the game

My dad invented this card game back in the 80’s. He sold it to UNO. We had t-shirts, hats, jackets and even a huge sticker on the tire cover on the back of our Van, they all had this exact logo. The license plate even said RAGE VAN. It’s great to see that people still like the game. I remember him drawing out the design of the cards on huge sheets of poster board in our basement.

Rage is a fun game. My husband and I enjoy it, too.
